Orientation Program for M.Sc first year students 2019
Forest Research Institute Deemed to be University conducted the orientation programme for the new batch of M.Sc. courses (2019-2020) from 17th – 19th July, 2019. Student orientation programme is a great way to help the new students and assist them in starting their academic journey. It is designed to facilitate the academic, cultural and social adjustment of the first year commencing students. The inaugural ceremony as its customary was initiated by the lighting of the lamp which symbolizes the good spirit. On this occasion, Sh. A.S. Rawat, Director, FRI & Vice Chancellor, FRIDU addressed the students while emphasising on the importance of forestry education and motivated the students for future opportunities in this field. Dr. H.S. Ginwal, Dean (Academic) gave the students an overview of elaborate history of prestigious Institute, its academic and research strength. Dr. Ajay Thakur, Senior Programme Co-ordinator greeted the students with a welcome address and shared his experiences with the new students. Finally the inaugural ceremony ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Vipin Parkash, Programme Co-ordinator (Forestry), who expressed his appreciation and gratitude to all the dignitaries and the students. The ceremony was followed by the technical session by the programme coordinators and faculties of FRIDU, where the students were informed about the academic structure of the programmes as well as the hostel code of conduct among other things. During the orientation programme, students also got opportunity to interact with various faculty members in research disciplines and familiarize with facilities in laboratories and museums.
