Shri. Saibal Dasgupta, Addl. Director General of Forests (FC), Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Govt. of India, on 25th Sept., 2019 held an interactive session with the students of M.Sc. Forestry and Environment Management to talk about the career scope and job prospects in forestry and related fields of environment. First and foremost he urged the students to utilize their knowledge and education to understand the problems and find ways to address the challenges in the current scenario. He encouraged the students to build a strong character and to display humility in times of success and achievement.
The students posed a range of questions where they wanted to know about the various steps that the policy-makers were taking to improve the rural peoples’ livelihood and their socio-economic development as well as in what way the Government was handling the problem of single use plastic which is a major threat to the ecosystem. To sum up, the interactive session was highly enlightening and made the students realize that they have a big role to play in the grand scheme of things.
