Celebration of "Matribhasa Day" on 21st February 2017
As per directives of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India, Forest Research Institute (Deemed) University celebrated 21st February 2017 as “Matribhasa Diwas” under the theme “Towards Sustainable Future through Multilingual Education” to promote mother languages, linguistic and cultural traditions of our country. Languages are the most powerful instruments of preserving and developing our cultural heritage. Local languages, especially minority and indigenous transmit cultures, values and traditional knowledge, thus playing an important role in promoting sustainable futures. On this occasion, Dean (A) expressed his views to promote mother tongues and to encourage linguistic diversity and multilingual education. Registrar, FRI University, faculty members, and staff also participated in the event with lot of enthusiasm. Students presented songs; music, dances and dramatic performance in their respective matribhasha such as Himachali, Assamese, Bangla, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Haryanvi, Rajasthani and Telugu to highlight and encourage the linguistic and cultural diversity of India.
