Study tour of students of M.Sc Forestry to South India
The goal of FRI Deemed to be University is to impart knowledge of modern education and practices in the disciplines of forestry and environment to the students, and introducing them to new arenas for research and advancement in the fields. To achieve the goal detailed field and institutional exposures to the students are provided through a three week long Study tour to different parts of the country. It provides them an opportunity to visualize the professional efforts and measures taken by different industries and institution in tackling the problems of forests and forestry. This year the MSc Forestry (2017-2019) visited over 20 destination points, including visit to leading institutes, museums, ex-situ conservation sites, national parks, plantations to ecotourism spots. The tour started on 12th October from FRI and after covering the states of Hyderabad, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, a large portion of Kerala, and Goa, the team reached back Dehradun on 3rd November, 2018. The students had excellent opportunity to interact with eminent scientists, forest officials, and active tribal members of eco-development committees. Wild treks and stay at forests were integral part of the tour.
