Educational Trip of M.Sc. Environment Management to Tehri Dam
On Saturday the 16th February, 2019, the students of M.Sc. Environment Management 2nd Semester accompanied by Dr. Mridula Negi, went for one day educational trip to Tehri Dam to acquaint with the working process of Dam and river hydrology. The Tehri Dam is the highest dam in India, 2nd highest in Asia and 8th highest in World. It is situated on the Bhagirathi River near Tehri in Uttarakhand, India. It is the primary dam of the THDC India Ltd. The Tehri Dam withholds a reservoir for irrigation, municipal water supply and the generation of 2,400 megawatts (1,300,000 hp) of hydroelectricity. Besides it is also providing employment to the local people and has increased tourism in the state. All the concepts related to operation of dam were explained to students by the officials of Hydro power station.
